We Believe in People – 16 April 2009

If you asked me after a few too many glasses of wine what I really love about this business, and why I am spiritually connected forever, it would be that we give people a chance for reveal their true greatness. In a world awash with discrimination and restricted opportunities for success, we give people that honest chance.

I adore that people can join a company and achieve beyond their wildest dreams. And more importantly, they will ‘grow’ beyond what they ever expected.

And the irony of this statement is that I have probably the least discrimination against me and are offered more opportunities than most on this planet. The world is open to us white, tall, educated, confident, able-bodied, western men. Yet I hate the discrimination this represents and laugh at their arrogance given the mess they have got the world into.

To truly LEAD in our business, you must love our opportunity for ‘personal greatness’, as Stephen Covey calls it. It means that you must fundamentally and completely believe in the inner potential of people, no matter what you see in front of you.

Vitally, you must resist your urge to prejudge them as the annals of Direct Sales/Network Marketing is full of examples of the ‘unlikely superstar’. And be warned that the biggest problem with prejudgement is not in recruitment, it is after they join when they are building confidence to succeed.

Why not have a honest look at how you perceive people today. Do you actually believe in people or is it just a show?
