I hear it less often these days.

A leader trying to explain to me that ‘we dont have customers’, thus ‘we dont sell’. Normally followed by ‘people dont like selling’.

OK…this is how it works.

If you know people saying this, email this like…

Point 1. if you have no customers, it means that everyone is a networker. it means that the ONLY volume comes from networker purchases.

So if the Average Purchase is 100points

And you have 100 people, then you have 10,000 points in your team!

If you earn 5%, then at 1 point = $1 = $500 -

And [they crow] its so easy!

No-one sells, everyone just gets ‘referral bonuses’

Create the ‘pipeline’ and money will follow.

HERE IS WHY EVERYONE SINGLE ONE OF THESE PROGRAMMES FAIL

If everyone has to share in 100points then the payout can only be say 40% of 100 [or the products will be outrageously over-priced and thus this is a pyramid].

Thats 40 points

OR 100 networkers x $40 = $4,000

Everyone is having to share in those $4,000

ie average income is $40!!!

The pie can ONLY 100points big

So if everyone just shared in own income then average income is $40 per month!

If you want to make more then someone has to lose!

its called a ZERO SUM GAME….every winner = equal loser

If you want someone to earn $10,000 per month then 250 must earn ZERO!

FACT – they are very simple and appeal to people

FACT – they are so easy to understand and requirements are so low [just use product] that they can be pitched quickly…hey do you get word-of-mouth bonuses cheques?

FACT – people join with such low expectations. they people dont feel like working. so they dont.

FACT – you have to sponsor so many people to earn money, people give up even faster

FACT – these programmes only work in momentum. basically, they launch, have a buzz about them, masses join, then 99.99% quit. YET the few ‘leaders’ [ha! how can you use this term here] left earn off the product orders!

These programmes that go under many names are RUBBISH!!!!

They dont work.

I could name 50 programmes. All should be restructured or have their opportunity pitches edited to say

PLEASE NOTE – The chances of you making an acceptable profit for your efforts from this programme is 1 in 500 YET it is easy to join.

I HATE these programmes.

They are like leaches on our industry all slowly sapping the credibility of our business.

The lazy people in the industry love these programmes and when they fail [99.9999% chance], they us.

AHHH!!!

its off my chest now.

What do you think?

‘Anyone can join’, we cry!

‘No discrimination’ we proudly claim.

What an AMAZING advantage we have where literally the barriers to entry and access to our biggest opportunity are so small they are irrelevant.

Not only is everyone allowed to join…. nearly everyone can create ’some’ results.

Yes, fantastic isn’t it!

Join, get a few customers, make some money!

Join, sponsor a few people, make some money!

We can CREATE AN ARMY!!!

Evaluate nearly EVERY network marketing literature and it is based on this message of ‘Come on, Join us and HAVE A GO! Who knows where it will lead, the sky is the limit!!!’

Conditions of joining? NONE!

Your ability to be successful? Unlimited.

And this is the problem….this offer, these attitudes, mentalities and strategies GUARANTEE THAT THIS BUSINESS WILL NOT WORK.

Our perceived strength is actually our weakness.

If a Retailer joins and ‘has a go!’ then they may or may not make some money…definition = successful.

If a Networker joins and ‘has a go!’ then there is a 99.99% chance they will fail.

They will NOT have the attitude and strategy to learn skills, build confidence, build motivation to KEEP ACTIVE.

They will join, work and quit…normally within 90 days. [thus all the 90days to success programmes promoted by 'gurus' who dont understand why their programmes dont work!]

If you ARE active and ARE working hard YET still use this ‘Have a Go!’ strategy, then you have a less than 1% chance that you will be successful as a networker.

Success as a Networker = achieve Team Leader position on your plan!

Ouch!

Have a Go! = 99% failure rate

It means massive attrition

It means that people have little confidence in success so can’t sponsor business builders!

It means that boom will be followed by bust

It means that if you build a network, you will struggle creating another boom

And so on…..

The only OTHER WAY is 100% Success

In this strategy, everyone is encouraged to join.

YET… they have the opportunities explained clearly to them. Work and reward.

People select Retailer or Networker.

As a Networker, they select – Confidence Programme or Take-Off

The point is that they clearly understand that there are STANDARDS to acheive and maintain OR THEY WONT SUCCEED.

They understand that they either work with upline to learn skills, build confidence and take action OR THEY WONT SUCCEED AND they will not be helped.

Join, and you can create ‘performance’

To success in Network Marketing, you must achieve High Performance.

Anyone can achieve this…yet you have to work.

UNTIL our industry accepts this reality, we are doomed to struggling networks and bad public reputation.

What do you think?….

Be the best

Ed

For 60 years, 99% of networking systems were based on the process of Join – Sponsor – Train, with hopefully a little bit of Retail thrown in.

Even the ‘train’ bit was ‘a little it’ thrown in.
Yep, it was pretty much, sponsor sponsor sponsor.
I dont want to be sceptical yet thats about it.

I know some people will cry ‘not in my team!’
Well you are an exception to the rule.

The normal concept is for coaching to fit in AFTER Sponsoring.
Logic – sponsor them then coach them.

Problem…. if dont have the basic knowledge of coaching then most people will not sponsor!

SO…Basics of coaching must go before Sponsoring
And Retail because you will met Business Prospects when you retail [makes sense?]

See Rising Star Basics – www.risingstarbasics.com

Then you learn coaching.. problem again is that coaching has two parts…knowledge and practice.

this is why coaching does not follow Sponsoring.

You learn ‘whilst’ you are sponsoring. Because you need to master the knowledge and this takes time.

Network System of the future?

1. Join
2. Start Meeting
3. Coaching Basics
4. Retail – get customers / Sponsor / Coaching Knowledge

Lets be clear – the first times you sponsor is part of learning to sponsor!

If your system is not designed this way, you will have massive failure rates. Sorry but its true!

When you evaluate your business how do you measure the performance?

Lets put leaders into groups:

1. The Superstitious

These leaders are unfortunately in the majority. They see their network performance and ask basic questions such as: What are the sales? What is my cheque? Is it growing or not?

There is little intelligent analysis. Basically, they do the work [whatever they think that is] and results ‘happen’. When results don’t occur as they expect then they don’t really know why. They believe in the saying ’sh*t happens’. It is a way of living when luck, destiny and other external factors rule their life.

These are the great believers of the ‘throw mud against the wall and see what sticks!’ that is…they have no idea what determines success or not. just recruit vast numbers of people and some will, some wont…

They drive their business by emotion. They will try to compensate for their lack of understanding of what happens in their business with emotional support or lack of it.

Even when its obvious that something is wrong [as growth dies] they say ‘you just have to believe!’

I have heard these guys say [really dumb] things like ‘you don’t need an upline, just a downline’.

HUH?

Why would they say this….? Because the upline have no idea what they should be doing!

This is how stupid this saying is… if you don’t need an upline then… companies don’t need to pay commissions!

All they should pay is a one-off recruiting commission! doh!

I could go on yet you understand…

2. The Accountant

They analyze the numbers, yet only see the numbers. They don’t understand the business behind it. YET AT LEAST they analyze the business!

They know the key products that are selling, who is performing, rank advancements, areas delivering, etc

They know WHATs happening even they don’t really know exactly WHY its happening.

3. The Leader

They understand how their business operates and then may or may not know why.

The reason i say may not is that most systems are not based on competence so will never work properly.

These are the leaders who say when they discover 100% Success, ‘finally i found the Mission Link!’ Some weep. Some laugh. Most go…’oh thank god, I knew I wasn’t crazy!’.

These guys analyze their businesses [quantatitive analysis] AND then talk to their people [qualititative analysis], they know the strengths and weaknesses.

So what are you?

the excuses for so many people quitting are not convincing to me..

1. people are lazy.
2. people lose ‘belief’
3. people are stupid
these would apply to some people some of the time yet not as many as quit our business.

Leadership in Network Marketing is unlike any other form in society or business because the environment is unique.

Ask group of network leaders for a definition of leadership and you will get very different concepts.

Here is my definition:

‘To influence your payline to do the right thing when you are not there’

In its parts:

‘To influence’… influence is the key concept of leadership. You cannot order. You can only ‘influence’. If you are not influencing, you are not leading. You are not a leader.

‘your payline’… these are the people you are paid on. This is a business, you have to influence those people you are paid on.

‘to do the right thing’… this is big. You must know WHAT is the RIGHT THINGS that your people must be doing. These RIGHT THINGS will build your business. Short, medium and long term.

‘when you are not there.’ Eventually you must have your people independent or you will never be able to create momentum.

How would you define leadership?

What leadership challenges do you have?

Every day, you will meet people. It commonplace for them to ask ‘what do you do?‘

How simple is your business to explain? Can you explain it to someone CLEARLY in a couple of sentences?

If you can’t then this CONFUSION is a killer! In fact, it can be embarrassing.

In workshops I ask people to explain their ‘job’ to someone else in a roleplay exercise. Its incredible how few people can do this clearly and credibly.

And some people have these creepy sales type messages that would scare the pants off most of the public. Like ‘I’m in the health and wealth business, which one do you want to hear about first?’ Answer – ‘none thanks’ [as they slowly back towards the door.]

Be proud of what you do! We have the greatest NEW opportunity for most people you meet. Tell them this yet do is clearly.

ACTION – practice your answer on three people today. Do they understand? Are they interested.

Carpe Diem – seize the day!

The Bucket List starring Jack Nicolson and Morgan Freeman told the story of two dying men trying to complete a list of ‘things to do or experience’ before they die. It’s a bit cheesy yet enjoyable.

It did make me think though. I have started to rewrite my own list. Maybe you should as well as it helps to think about what it important in your life.

Obviously this is just another way of looking at WHY you are you involved with this business. It forces you to ask the question, ‘will my involvement in this business take me towards what is on my Bucket List or not?

How many things should be on your list? Great personal development author Jack Cranfield talks of 101. I don’t believe there should be a set number yet I like the fact he has a large number of things AND that he wrote his last list in his mid-40s [he still has THAT spark for life!]

The list I believe is also a living document to be added to and subtracted. Based on what you discover.

As an example; I don’t really enjoy going to concerts; I fell asleep at the World Premier of Miss Saigon, turned down tickets to see Cirque du Soleil and walked out of a Prince concert. YET I WILL see the following people in concert…They are called the Dance of a Thousands Hands - Thousand-Hand Kuan Yin.

Considering the tight coordination required, their accomplishment is nothing short of amazing, even if they were not all deaf. Yes, you read correctly. All 21 of the dancers are complete deaf-mutes. Relying only on signals from trainers at the four corners of the stage, these extraordinary dancers deliver a visual spectacle that is at once intricate and stirring.

Think about what you want to see, do and become in your life as you watch this incredible performance. Talk to your people about writing their Bucket List. Maybe run a Bucket List Day…:
